On New Year’s Raw Monday night, after weeks of physical and verbal salvos from Bray Wyatt and his followers, Daniel Bryan stunned the WWE Universe by requesting to join The Wyatt Family!
Tonight, on the first SmackDown of 2014, The Wyatts’ Erick Rowan & Luke Harper will attempt to capture the WWE Tag Team Titles from Cody Rhodes & Goldust – four days after the 2013 Superstar of the Year opted to join their ranks.
Will Bray Wyatt’s mysterious and menacing devotees kick off a new year by winning the WWE Tag Team Championships? And what role – if any – might Bryan play as their new ally?
2.) Will CM Punk look to splinter The Shield?
The Best in the World’s ongoing rivalry with The Hounds of Justice has revealed possible chinks in the armor of The Shield. On Monday’s Raw, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns inadvertently demonstrated dissent by arguing over who was the unit’s strongest member and – accordingly – the worthiest opponent for Punk.
After defeating Rollins in a singles match on WWE’s flagship show, will The Second City Saint have another run-in with WWE’s 2013 Newcomers of the Year? As this bitter rivalry continues to swell in 2014, will The Best in the World face immediate justice on SmackDown? Or, will The Shield finally be broken at the hands of the former WWE Champion?
3.) Will Lesnar or Batista look to shape up SmackDown?
With Triple H’s shocking reintroduction of Brock Lesnar on New Year’s Raw, one of WWE’s most destructive powers is back on the map. The Beast Incarnate returned with a vengeance, blasting Mark Henry through the barricade and declaring himself next in line for the winner of the John Cena-Randy Orton WWE World Heavyweight Championship rematch at Royal Rumble.
!In addition to the returning Lesnar, it has been announced that WWE fan favorite Batista makes his long-awaited WWE homecoming on the Jan. 20 edition of Raw.
Could The Anomaly or The Animal possibly have an unforeseen impact on SmackDown at 8/7 CT on Syfy tonight?
4.) Can Big E continue his big run ?
Since he defeated Curtis Axel for the Intercontinental Title on the Nov. 18 episode of Raw, Big E Langston has been unstoppable, winning every single one of his matches and successfully defending his illustrious title against the likes of Axel, Damien Sandow and – on New Year’s Raw on Monday – Fandango.
The muscle-bound powerhouse is WWE’s newest dominant force, and he gets another chance to prove it tonight on SmackDown when he goes one-on-one with the dangerous Axel once more.
5.) Will Nikki Bella get payback on Aksana?
While Brie Bella worries about what has happened to her fiancé, Daniel Bryan, her twin sister Nikki faces Aksana in singles action tonight on SmackDown.
For Nikki, who was pinned by the Lithuanian beauty Monday in a 10-Diva Tag Team Match, it’s an opportunity both at personal redemption and to score a win for the “Total Divas” in their ongoing conflict with the self-appointed “True Divas.”
Will Nikki get her retribution? Or, could family issues surrounding her sister and Bryan get in the way of “twin magic”?
